The Lightning Network is maturing into institutional-grade financial infrastructure, but it lacks the coordination layer that every serious infrastructure industry requires — shared operational standards, regulatory representation, compliance frameworks, and a collective voice.

The Lightning Network Association is an initiative to establish a GSMA-model trade body for Lightning operators, LSPs, exchanges, wallet providers, and payment processors. Its purpose is to coordinate — not to build products, write protocol specs, or enforce compliance.
